Do you use a gps to record your route at orienteering events? Then why not compare how you went with others in the event via The Beaten Track?
This online tool, developed by local orienteers Paul Dowling and Bryce Crage, is a way of comparing your route choice with other competitors. Access is via the results page, along with the results and splits for each event.
HOW TO GET STARTED
Make sure you are logged into your Eventor profile. While anyone can set up an Eventor profile, membership of Orienteering WA (or any other Australian Orienteering club) is required to be registered in the system so that you can use the GPS upload function. Why not join and support your sport!
In Eventor login and then select the event you have a trace from. Open the event information page, select route and upload your gpx route trace file into Eventor for storage.
Then return to the Results listing and click The Beaten Track link for the event you wish to review. The Beaten Track will now load in your browser.
Select your course and other competiors via the selection panel.
You'll be able to then do a “virtual run” in a head to head race with your rivals. Why not see how your route choice compared, you might surprise yourself!
Access The Beaten Track for each event via TBT link on the results listing.
