Part of the Be Active Mountain Bike Orienteering series the Middle Distance and the Long Distance 2013 State Mountain Bike Championship are now open for entries. Entries for the Mountain bike events close Sunday 14 July 2013 while the final sprint event for the year is the WA Sprint Championships on August 10 and entries close for this event on Monday 3 August 2013. To be part of the Championship competition you'll need to pre-enter so come along and enjoy.

This week the annual Be Active Schools Orienteering Championships is being held at Jorgensen Park, Kalamunda on Wednesday 19th June. With just over 1000 primary and secondary school children entered in the event it is by far the largest Orienteering event of the year in Western Australia. To all those taking part we hope you enjoy this popular event.

This weekend Sunday morning foot orienteering returns to the Frazzle Rock area first used for the Easter Frazzle Rock carnival in 2011. The next Orienteering event is a NavDash at Shenton College, Shenton Park on Saturday, 15th June. The event will be held within the grounds of Shenton College in a small, compact area with complex features, such as the buildings and passages, and is also very suitable for beginners.

First SOL event for the series was the NavDash event at Churchlands. Results in the 2013 SOL standings are now available.
The State Orienteering League (SOL) takes place over the over 6 winter season Orienteering events. The 6 events make up the series where, if you run the nominated course for your age group, you will be able to track how your performance is going and obtain points for the Orienteer of the Year award.

On the 1:5,000 Pre-Frazzle Map first used for the Easter Prologue events in 2011. With fast open rock strewn farm land the area is ideal for middle distance style courses. Expect lots of controls and many twists and turns to keep you concentrating.

This MTB Orienteering event covers the complex track network around Langford Park and Manjedal scout camp and for the longer courses, includes a newly mapped area east of Nettleton Rd, 'Alcoa Hilltop', where you can relive the history of aluminium mining in WA's south west. The area includes mining access trails, dirt bike tracks and regrowth plantation forest. Come and try out the courses designed by WA's national MTBO representative, Ricky Thackray.
