Don't let the forecast rain put you off this awesome Mountain Bike Orienteering event - it's great fun in the wet! There will be 3 courses (Short, Medium, Long) to suit different levels of fitness and ability.

Newcomers welcome - FREE ENTRY if it is your first MTBO event and you come along with an OWA member.  

Enter on the day from 9:00am. Start times 9:30am to 11:30am. Courses close 1:00pm.

This weekend sees the last regular mountain bike orienteering event of the season before the National Series events in Margaret River in October, so it's your last chance to practice before then. Sunday's event is located at the Goat Farm (Greenmount) off Greenmount Rise so very close to the city. Sunday 10th May

A chance to enjoy a great weekend of Orienteering on one of the premier maps in the West Australian Wheatbelt. Camping has also been organised for Saturday night on Sam Burton’s block so don’t miss this chance to socialise with your fellow orienteers. Camping requires BYO everything.

Our first bush event of the year is in a lovely area and not too far out of town. Courses offer something for everyone, whether you are an experienced orienteer or a first timer.  So come along and give it a go, and enjoy a picnic afterwards. Instructors are on hand to help get you started.

OWA member wins national award
During the Easter Carnival, our very own Noel Schoknecht was presented with the prestigious Silva Award for Services to Orienteering. This recognizes Noel's long contribution to all aspects of the sport at the club, state, national and international level. Well done Noel, and well deserved!!

The OWA Council elected last weekend includes some new faces, plus some "old" faces in new positions. Peter Komyshan (Secretary) and Mike Sibbald (Coaching Convenor) have joined Council, Tash Sparg has stepped up to the position of Vice President, and Jan Fletcher has become a general Council member. Many thanks to Jan for her stint as coaching convenor, and to outgoing Secretary Ken Post who will be enjoying the life of a "grey nomad".

The Be Active WA School Orienteering Championships will be held on Wednesday 17th June at Fred Jacoby Forest Park, Mundaring. The Information and Entry Form is now available on the School Championships page. Entries close on 29th May and no late entries will be accepted so schools and individuals should enter early!
The Championships were last held at Fred Jacoby in 2010, and the Championships page includes links to sample courses from that event.

Join us Saturday for a scenic course at the City of Gosnells. There are four courses to choose from, long, moderate, short and easy. Everyone is welcome and this is an ideal course to try out NavDash for the first time. Take in the picturesque parkland and perhaps pack a picnic.

Congratulations to our West Australian representatives who travelled to Sydney for round 1 of the National Orienteering League.  The first event was a mixed male-female sprint relay where a WA/Qld combined team picked up a respectable 9th place on the Sydney University campus.

Nav Dash is set to kick of in 2015 at Whiteman Park. Whiteman Park has plenty on offer, bring your picnic for after the event with the Annual General Meeting to be held after the event (approx 4 pm).
