Fantastic turnout for first ever orienteering event in Albany
Street orienteering came to Albany on Saturday 24 May, with almost 80 locals enjoying the physical and navigational challenge, including several school groups.  With a high level of interest and enthusiasm, Albany is on track to form its own Orienteering Club this year. The Queensland Mountain Bike Orienteering Champs were held on the weekend of May 10-11 and a small contingent of West Aussies travelled over to the town of Stanthorpe to compete.  With a middle and long distance event, combined times determined the overall result and after the two days of racing, WA's Natasha Sparg prevailed to take out the Womens Open title and become the Queensland State Champion.  In the Mens Open, Ricky Thackray persisted through his recent injury slump to hold on for 2nd

Four Western Australian orienteers made podium appearances at the recent 2014 Easter 3 Day Orienteering Carnival held in NSW. The Easter 3 Day Carnival is an international event, and as the name suggests is run over three days requiring competitors to put in a consistent effort.

This coming weekend is the perfect time to go south for a weekend of a difference and enjoy some orienteering.  With events in Denmark on Saturday and near Collie on Sunday, it is a great excuse to get out of town, do some touring, some exercise and enjoy the WA great outdoors in autumn.

Last year a group of Aussie orienteers get together and came up with a design for a casual gear to be worn by travelling orienteers.
The aim was to have a uniform look at events that could also be used in marches.
The garments are made by Trimtex and orders are being taken now for ladies/unisex polo shirts, vests and jackets. They are all very comfortable, lightweight and perfect for travelling.
Orders close 30 January so that they will be ready in time for Easter.

Come enjoy navdashing in the bush this coming Saturday afternoon. NavDash events are relatively short in distance and are considered of easy navigation, but can be tricky as they are conducted in complex areas. The Australian Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships are this year set to be held in the red centre, Alice Springs, on the 'long' weekend of June 14-16 2014.  The tracks around this area have been unofficially voted as the 'second best trails you'll find in the world' (source unknown).

The organisers have promised some challenging courses across the three days and you'll also get the chance to ride against our Kiwi neighbours, with the event being held in conjunction with the Aus/NZ

Head down to Bunbury this weekend for a weekend full of orienteering. On Saturday, it is the first State O League event with the first OY (Orienteer of the Year) points to be awarded in 2014 at the Australind High School NavDash. First MTBO event for 2014
Banyowla - Sunday 23rd March 2014

The first Mountain Bike orienteering event for the year will be held in bushland in the Kelmscott/Martin area of the Perth hills. This is a great area to get on your bike,hit the hills and hone those navigational skills.
