statechampsSunday 15th July 2018

A brand new map, covering the intricate pathways of Willetton Senior High School and Burrendah Primary School provided plenty of challenges for competitors with courses designed to maximize route choice on every leg. Grey clouds loomed over the event but thankfully the rain held off and everyone stayed dry.

Thanks to everyone that helped make the event possible, in particular the controller Dan Greig, the organiser Heike Behrbohm, and the caravan towers Dave Pass and...

Jumbuck 1Sunday 8th July 2018

The river was flowing and the courses made the most of the views as a host of orienteers enjoyed the Jumbuck Hill map at Walyunga National Park. A great way to spend a Sunday morning. School holidays saw lots of families enjoying the day out too.

With a lovely sunny day and close proximity to Perth the event saw lots of newcomers come and try orienteering for the first time. We really hope you enjoyed your time and will come and join us again. Volunteers who helped on the day...

Cottesloe Civic Centre, Napier Street, Cottesloe
Even when you think you know a suburb, a new metro map can surprise you. This week well known, long time WA orienteer Tony Simpkins is both mapper and setter. Cottesloe is not the simple grid that a glance at your street directory might lead you to believe so the courses will be much more complex than you might imagine. Be prepared for a surprise! And the beach is just a short walk to cool off after the event.

Getting to the...

Hopbush Park, Hackettiana Ave, South Lake
As the name suggests there is a lake, an abundance of parkland and a residential street network to keep you interested while you complete your chosen course.

This is a revised map by Metro Series Co-ordinator Ricky Thackray, originally drawn for Mountain Bike Orienteering in 2016, but the area has not been on the Metro Series calendar since before 2000. Take this chance to become reacquainted at the final Metro Series event...

Lake Gwelup Reserve, Huntriss Rd, Gwelup.

Another of our many lake maps but with many waterways and urban bushland to run in this area has plenty to offer. Using the Score format it will give you plenty of time to explore the map, making the most of the 60 minute time limit with the potential to cover much of the area.

Controls will be worth 10, 20 and 30 points which will add a twist to the route planning as you will need to decide if going a little further to chase...
