Off Great Eastern Highway, near the Lakes
Drizzle, more drizzle and then the rain. Other than that, everyone appeared to have a good time. off Westdale Road, near Beverley
Enjoy expansive views, running on beautifully mapped terrain of open paddocks, wandoo woodland, detailed granite outcrops and bare rock surfaces, gullies, spurs and hills. The map was updated for the 2019 Australian 3-day event at Easter.

John Forrest National Park
It was a crisp and sunny July morning for this year's edition of the John Forrest event where we saw 96 entrants brave the parrot bush and challenging mix of hills and prickly flora, the H1 course taking in some 390m of elevation.

Pickering Brook
Entries are now open and will close on Thursday 21st July at 11:59pm. This is a PRE-ENTRY event through Eventor for Championship classes. Enter on the day for non-Championship classes will be available for all courses and e-bikes are welcome, as are runners. Details of the courses are in the Information flyer in Eventor. Start lists for Championship courses will be posted in Eventor as soon as possible after entries have closed.

Saturday 2nd - Monday 4th July
Camp Kerem, Bullsbrook
Held over three days, the winter camp was held in stunning fine weather with very cold mornings. Seventeen juniors attended and there were twelve coaches/adults to supervise and instruct.

Granite Heights, Albany
Sunshine and blue skies surprisingly appeared for the Granite Heights event in Albany on Sunday 26th June. This partially completed map was mostly cattle paddocks but with some low-lying blue gums and marshy native vegetation plus some small granite outcrops which made it a perfect area for a local club full of beginner orienteers. Even on the Hard courses competitors were never far from great big features.

East of The Lakes
The Calophylla Long State Series event had an attendance of 78 brave souls who made it past the puddles and eroded tracks to arrive at the assembly area. The terrain was quite tough with deep gullies and watercourses to cross to the east of the map and prickly bushes between the rock surfaces to the west.

Whiteman Park
The Orienteering Association of Western Australia (OWA) held the 2022 Secondary Schools Orienteering Championships at Whiteman Park on Wednesday 15th June. The organising team and participants were happy that the forecast rain held off until after the event finished. Over 300 students from 15 schools participated. Thirty-six volunteers from OAWA helped run the event and Sarah Stevenson from Whiteman Park worked with OWA to manage the event.

John Forrest National Park
This event is held at John Forrest National Park, close to Perth, and is an ideal event for families and newcomers. Bring along your friends and introduce them to an activity that exercises your brain as well as your legs!

Glen Forrest
35 participants ventured out into the Glen Forrest to Mahogany Creek Heritage Trail and bush reserves in a very wintery morning, with occasional showers of rain. This was a Maprun6 event using three courses with lengths from 8 to 28 kms.

Saturday 2nd - Monday 4th July
Camp Kerem, Bullsbrook
Our popular junior camp is returning to Camp Kerem, Bullsbrook! The camp is held over two days and two nights at the start of the July School holidays. Led by a team of ten OWA coaches, it will provide activities on site and training on a bush map, as well as attending the OWA event at John Forrest National Park.
We are looking for young people who enjoy orienteering, want to learn more about it and have a fun time with other young people.

Sunday 5th - Monday 6th June
Dale, near Beverley
The WA Classic for 2022 took place over two days on the Hill Park Dale map near Beverley. The hilly farmland map includes lots of rock detail as well as some open land, and provided opportunities for spotting kangaroos and newborn lambs.

Dwellingup Trails and Visitor Centre
A cool but fine day greeted the 35 starters in the bike classes and 5 runners for this 3-hour score event at the fantastic new trail centre in Dwellingup. Competitors were challenged with a double sided A3 map. It would have been almost impossible to clear the course so decisions which side to start on needed to be made quickly.
