THis weekend is final NavDash event for 2013 and is also the 2013 WA Sprint Orienteering Championships. Put your sprint orienteering skills to the test on a fun and interesting campus map. Enjoy this once a year chance to take part in the WA Sprint Orienteering Championship.

FOOT O: Marginata, Middle Distance Event, Sun 28th July 2013

A weekend of orienteering to enjoy this weekend with NavDash in the Swan Valley and in the bush at Marginata. Both events are enter-on-the-day and everyone is welcome. Instructors will be on hand and assistance is available for those new to the sport or trying it for the first time. Courses range from those suitable for experienced orienteers to first time participants.

This weekend we head down to Bunbury. The South West Orienteering Trekkers (SWOT) are holding their event on Sunday afternoon. The map surrounds the Leschenault Inlet with nice parkland areas to have an enjoyable run on (it includes the most southerly mangroves in Australia http://www.abc.net.au/local/stories/2009/08/19/2661032.htm). This is a great opportunity to experience the friendly hospitality of the SWOT club.

The State Orienteering League (SOL) has 6 events make up the series where, if you run the nominated course for your age group, you will be able to track how your performance is going and obtain points for the Orienteer of the Year award.

This Sunday’s orienteering event is at Mt Observation, near York and once again features beautiful, open Wandoo forest.

A full range of courses will be available, including the usual Starter courses for beginners. Registration at the event will be open from 9.00am until 11.00am.

The Julimar Map brings a mixture of spur, gully terrain with undulating woodland with sections of good rock detail.  Vegetation is also a mixture of open woodland (runnable) and regrowth (moderate to slow) due to die-back allowing undergrowth to flourish.  There a plenty of new tracks about due to Motor Cross riders. Sunday 8th September 2013: Wundabiniring Brook

There is only two weeks left until the State Orienteering Championships, Wundabiniring provides the perfect opportunity to keep refining your navigation skills. This weekends event in the bush provides a mixture of open areas and pockets of complex granite. The assembly area is in an open area and good for a picnic after your run.

This weekend Orienteering heads to Lake Leschenaultia, a 168 hectare bush land area made up of a variety of native trees including marri and wandoo. Wildflowers can be seen together with an abudance of bird life including ducks, geese, herons and swamp hens. Standard Foot Event at Lover’s Lane

Orienteering this week is on Sunday morning at the Lovers Lane area, just north east of Perth. It is an area with varied terrain offering something for everyone from novices to seasoned orienteers. WA orienteers will remember it from the State Championships in 2011.

Everyone welcome, with registration on the morning and courses are available for both beginners and experts. Registration at the event will be open from 9.00am until 11.00am.

Mountain Bike Orienteering, Karragullen

This MTB Orienteering event covers the track network around Karragullen.  The area contains a mix of variable riding gravel tracks, a complex network of dirt bike tracks, small pockets of pine plantation, open rideable land, rock surfaces and orchards. This event will include a short and easy navigation course of 5km, so there will be a course on offer for all abilities.

This a great opportunity to Come and Try Orienteering and enjoy the many attractions on offer at Whiteman Park, Recreation and Conservation Reserve.
