With the Metro Series completed for the summer it's time to turn attention to the orienteering in WA for the rest of the year. Bush, NAVdash or Mountain Bike orienteering there is something for everyone over the coming year. Mountain Bike and NavDash ease you into this year’s event schedule and don't forget to mark the WA Classic weekend in June at Dryandra on your calendar. It's an orienteering feast and social event extraordinaire not to be missed.

Come down to the river this week for a Metro Series event plus bonus post event Sausage Sizzle hosted by the Curtin University Boat Club

The event will start from Curtin University Boat Club, corner of Elderfield Rd and Fairview Garden, Salter Point with registration open from 4.15pm and a mass start at 5pm. Congratulations to Henry McNulty for his fantastic effort at the Ultra Long inVictoria on Sunday the 30th August.

The Ultra-Long event (held in Ballarat), is a well known mining area with complicated terrain. It was a test of navigation, as well as distance for the legs! The Junior Elites ran a 15 km course through this difficult terrain, toughing it out in the cold and wind.

Henry ran his course in an amazing 1 hour and  44 minutes, beating second place by 3 mins 44 seconds. An amazing...

It's now getting towards the business end of the Metro Series with interesting contests in many of the categories. Remember there are still three events to go so it's not too late to improve your score with your best six to count.

This week the Metro Series event heads north up the coast to Mullaloo, so a sea breeze will keep you cool as you explore the area. It is Valentine’s Day weekend so for a perfect date bring along your sweetheart to try orienteering and then watch the sunset over the Indian Ocean.

Ever wanted to try orienteering on a bike but don't own a mountain bike?  Well the 'Burbs and Bush Bike Bash is the perfect opportunity to try it out!  Set in the hills around Glen Forrest and Darlington, this event is suitable for all ages and bike types, with three courses available that allow you to ride to many of the controls on or off road with a possible short walk to collect the controls.
