Spooks in the Park is the first event ever of its kind in WA! You are invited to join in a day full or fun, frolics and fantasies! Ghosts, witches, zombies all await you as you make your way through the interactive adventure course around Hyde Park. Some games will be a test of bravery...

Hyde Park will be over run with ghosts, goblins and ghouls on Saturday 31 October 2015 for our very first Spooks in the Park, a popular Halloween event in Perth. Follow a map to find lots of ghostly games to play including a Zombie Run, the Dreaded Spiders Web and the Spooky grove. A large contingent of WA locals, including our WA Schools Team, travelled to Ballarat to represent WA in the Australian Orienteering Championships carnival. Held in Victoria. Our Schools Team members held many top ten results and had a great time. All Orienteering races have different levels of difficulty and distances according to each age group. For all those in the area, go along to Little Grove Primary School on Sunday 11 October for a fun start to your morning. The school will be hosting foot orienteering. Two courses to choose from: Short – 3km and Medium -5km.

Bush events might well be over for this season but don’t worry, the Metro Series is just around the corner! We are in the final stages of finalising venues and anticipate that the event calendar will be available by mid-October. So watch this space!

Umuna (long distance) will offer you a picturesque ridge of grazed remnant bush with views across the adjacent wheatbelt. Plus wallabies and echidnas (if you’re lucky!). The standard bush event at Spice Brook is worth the drive through the beautiful lush countryside this weekend. You’ll be met with a variety of courses to choose from. The WA Sprint Champs will offer a labyrinth mixture of buildings, parkland, underpasses and pathways; a great deal of complexity and route choice!

Pre-entry is open via Eventor. To be eligible for the Sprint Championship you must pre-enter. Benefits include pre-allocated start time, a map printed on waterproof paper and avoiding a long queue at the caravan! You’ll also be eligible for awards and trophies.

This popular orienteering area should be just the place to enjoy the start of the wildflower season at a standard bush event. With a range of courses to choose from to suit all skill and fitness levels this is a perfect time to get out and enjoy the Western Australian bush. After your course let the kids play and get dirty, have a picnic lunch and enjoy a snack from the cake stall which supports the Junior Squad fundraising effort.

Bush Event at Gunapin Ridge (West)
State Orienteering League - Long Distance

Has your training paid off in the early part of the season and do you have your bush running legs ready to score some points in the State Orienteering League (SOL) Long Distance event? This year the SOL Long Distance event will be at Gunapin Ridge on the eastern edge of the State Forest with the map providing an interesting mix of farm and wandoo bush. Plenty of rocky outcrops to keep you on your toes...
