The 2014 Be Active Schools Orienteering Championships will be conducted at Whiteman Park on Wednesday 18 June. The event is sponsored by Healthway to promote the Be Active message. Many thanks also to the management and staff of Whiteman Park for providing a fantastic venue!
Entries are now closed, and almost 1000 students have entered the event either as individuals or in pairs.

We are super excited to launch the 2015/16 Metro Series. It’s just around the corner, officially starting on Saturday 7 November. The calendar has been finalised, so check it out. Click here. Sunday 3 April
Join SWOT club at Shearwater this Sunday for a funday of foot orienteering! Shearwater is a relatively new area southeast of the Maidens. The area is a quite flat, with a complex track network. There will be three courses - Easy navigation 2.3 km, Moderate navigation 3.2km, ModHard navigation 3.8km.
Arrive at 3.30pm for Registration and Event briefing. Beginners welcome - instruction provided.

The following 6 events will be used for the selection of this year’s team to compete at the Australian Schools’ Orienteering Carnival in Victoria, from 25 September – 4 October. Students will need to complete at least 3 events from the following list, with 1 of the 3 being the WA Orienteering Schools Championships. It is highly recommended that students complete as many events as possible, and that they include both bush and sprint races.

Almost 1,000 students enjoyed sunshine in the bush at Jorgensen Park, Kalamunda at Wednesday’s School Orienteering Championships. Electronic punching and timing was used for the first time at the Championships, made possible by a tremendous effort from OAWA volunteers to get the timing chips ready and distributed.

Saturday 9 April
Back on your bike this week! Point Walter will host the second event of the mountain bike orienteering series this Saturday. It will be a ‘cryptic clue and treasure hunt’ event through the back blocks of Attadale and the Point Walter foreshore. A beautiful venue with fun and challenges for all. Don't miss out!

With the Metro Series completed for the summer it's time to turn attention to the orienteering in WA for the rest of the year. Bush, NAVdash or Mountain Bike orienteering there is something for everyone over the coming year. Mountain Bike and NavDash ease you into this year’s event schedule and don't forget to mark the WA Classic weekend in June at Dryandra on your calendar. It's an orienteering feast and social event extraordinaire not to be missed.

Congratulations to Henry McNulty for his fantastic effort at the Ultra Long inVictoria on Sunday the 30th August.
The Ultra-Long event (held in Ballarat), is a well known mining area with complicated terrain. It was a test of navigation, as well as distance for the legs! The Junior Elites ran a 15 km course through this difficult terrain, toughing it out in the cold and wind.
