Middle Distance - Saturday 10 September 2016
OWA returns to the lovely Lovers Ridge for the 2016 Middle Distance Championships. Russell Wade has planned a set of fantastic middle distance style courses—short courses with legs of varying length and frequent changes of direction. The terrain will be an interesting mixture of granite, areas of open running and typical spur gully terrain. The granite portion of the courses will be new to most OWA members.

First used for an Australian Championships Hill Park Dale offers first class orienteering terrain. Complex granite outcrops with rocky ground underfoot and fallen timber make for slower going in places, interspersed with fast open running in the paddocks and clearer areas. If you care to take the time to look there are some magnificent views from the top of the hill and very little scratchy bush which makes this area a very pleasant one to visit.
A variety of courses

This area has been used infrequently, but exhibits a range of differing vegetation types. For those that entered the excellent Malmalling SW event set by Noel Schoknecht, this area is completely different. There are few (if any) forests of grass trees to obscure your running, but there are a number of different terrains to test your navigation and fitness. Whatever you do on a Sunday do not miss this event!
