The Metro Series kicks off 2017 beachside with the first Orienteering event of the year at Hillarys, an ideal location to enjoy a post event swim, picnic, or just relax and be rewarded with a beautiful sunset.

This event, on Saturday afternoon, is a Score event so take note of the registration and start time windows and don’t forget your watch and your e-tag, if you have one, as electronic timing will be in use.

Saturday 12 November
The Koondoola courses will provide you with a perfect mixture of woodland and suburban street/path networks. With wildflowers, high viewpoints and hopefully the odd kangaroo, this event is a beaut!

Sunday 20th November

Start Location: Hartfield Park Recreation Centre, Hale Rd, Forrestfield.      

Join us on Sunday! Forrestfield map includes a good street network as well as extensive park areas, small lakes, a powerline reserve and areas of native bush. It was last used in 2013. For more information click here.

Join us at Neil Hawkins park for the latest Metro event. There will be plenty of shade and fantastic views of Lake Joondalup. If you are a twitcher (enjoy bird watching) then this is the event for you!

There are various courses available (short, medium and long), ranging from 3-8 km in length. All with a mass start at 5pm. Register from 4:15pm.

The metro series and novelty rogaine have traditionally clashed – until now! This year both events will share the same Peppermint Grove area, so expect to see some more faces around. Its due to be warm, so why not take advantage of a paddle in the river with the family before or after the race.

This map is set in the foothills of Perth and includes the historic Railway Heritage Trail to explore. You will experience the best that Perth bush has to offer whilst still in suburbia. The new stadium will play host to a new map!This area includes the aptly named conservation park taking up the eastern 1/3 of the map, with an extensive track network to explore – cutting through bush is not allowed. It includes the shopping complex, train station and suburban streets and parks. As usual there will be a few distance options to choose from.

This Saturday’s Metro Series event takes us south to the beachside suburb of Coogee. This scatter event will take orienteers through the complex local street network. With more than the usual number of cut through paths, cul-de-sacs and lakes on the map, picking the optimal route will be part of the challenge. 

Friendly people will be on hand to assist if you need it and newcomers are welcome.

Mass start scatter event with 3 distance options 2-3km, 4-6km, 7-8km. The Churchlands map features an extremely complex maze of laneways in the middle of the map as well as several schools with intricate detail. The western side is hilly and less complex to test route choice and your legs. More information is available here.
