Entries are open for the WA Middle and Long Championships on September 21 ad 22, entries close for this event on Monday 16th September 2013. To be part of the Championship competition you'll need to pre-enter so come along and enjoy. There is a suitable class for everyone.

The WA Middle Distance and Long Distance State Championship were held on the 16th & 17th September. Congratulations to all winners and place getters across all age classes, from the Men and Women 10 to the Men and Women 75 and up!

We had a spectacular day for the first event to kick off the 'summer' season of orienteering with a different style of event, an ultra-sprint at the glorious parklands of Faulkner Park. This venue had massive grassed areas, buildings, gardens, lakes and various other features to locate controls around.

The Annual OWA Award and Volunteer Dinner on Saturday 21st October was a welcome chance for orienteers to put on the glad rags rather than O-suits for an evening of celebration. It’s was a chance to acknowledge our champions, volunteers and achievements over the past year.

The 2018 Australian Schools Championship are taking place in South Australia on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th October as part of the Australian Orienteering Championship Carnival 2018. The WA Schools Team representatives have now been announced. Congratulations to all selected and run well!

At this stage Saturday’s (2nd February) forecast is for a hot day, but with cooling South-Westerly breezes by the afternoon. Should this change and the weather become more extreme, Orienteering Western Australia’s Extreme Weather Policy may be implemented. This may mean shortening of the courses, or making them non-competitive. In very extreme conditions the event may be cancelled. Lightpole Orienteering
Lightpole Orienteering returns for Thursday evenings to help keep your navigation and running tuned up over the winter. The goal of these training events is to collect as many designated lightpoles and you write down the unique code to prove you made it to the checkpoint. This is a scatter format, so pick your own route and get as many controls as you can in the 45-minute time limit.
Don't forget it will be dark so it can be harder than you think!

The WA Classic Weekend is a great way to enjoy two days of orienteering over the long weekend. The Frazzle maps have been popular with WA orienteers since the area was first mapped for the Australian 3 Day event in 2011.
