With one event to go in the 2014/15 Metro Series, several overall categories are still undecided (see below). Overall Series scores are based on age classes and your best 6 scores from 12 events, provided you run the correct course for your class. The second Nav Dash event of the year is set to kick off at last years State Championship venue, Pioneer Park, Gosnells. Explore the parklands containing a treetop walk, bbq's for a picnic after the event, playground's, this park is a great place to visit.

MetrO Series Warnbro Warnbro YMCA Community Centre - 14th February 2015

Bring your Valentine to Warnbro for a romantic run along the beach at Sunset, find a control or two while spending time with your loved ones. Register on the day from 4.15pm with the usual mass start from 5pm. There are three distances to choose from 3, 5 or 8km. MetrO Series events are a great introduction to the sport of Orienteering, as easy as reading a street map.

This summer’s Metro Series is underway and like last year there is a fine spread of suburbs to explore, with the Eastern ones concentrated during the cooler pre-Christmas period while, for the hotter months of January and February, events are all closer to the Coast. There is a 4-week break for Christmas and New Year, and then a short one-week break over the Australia Day long weekend.

Metro Series continues on Saturday 31 January - Tom Perrott Reserve, McCabe Street, Mosman Park

We're back after Australia Day weekend and return to lovely Mosman Park, the suburb sandwiched between the Swan River and the Indian Ocean. The view of Perth city from Mosman Park Bowls Club is must see before you head to this metro event. As usual we welcome newcomers, families and dogs. There are several courses to choose from. This week's Metro Series event goes further north to the beachside suburbs of Quinns Rocks & Mindarie.  The event commences from the beach so it will be a great opportunity to make an afternoon of it - take a dip before or after the event and have a picnic to round out the day.  Event registration details and times can be found elsewhere on this page and event directions can be found here.

The Metro Series recommences after the Christmas break this weekend (Saturday January 10) in the northern suburb of Joondalup.  The event will commence from Arena Joondalup, Kennedya Dve, with registration from 4:15pm and mass start at 5pm.  For more information, see the Metro Series article on this page or go to the event directions on Eventor.

The 2015 WA School Orienteering Championships will be held on Wednesday 17th June, 2015. The venue will be announced soon.

1000 students enjoyed the Be Active 2014 WA School Orienteering Champs at Whiteman Park.

Oustanding performances included 6 minute wins by Joel McMullen (La Salle College) and Jo-anna Maynard (Duncraig SHS) in Boys and Girls 15A, and a 14 minute win by Oliver Martin (Peter Moyes Anglican Community School) running up a year in Boys 16A.  The Richards twins, Sarah and Shaun

The 7-day Karrak Karnival was a great success, despite variable weather more resembling Melbourne than Perth! Many WA orienteers took advantage of the national carnival being on home turf to put in good performances, across age classes from under 10 years to 80 plus.

Long, middle and sprint distance events were held over 2 days on high quality new maps, thanks to the hard work of Ricky, Ian, Duncan & co. WA won several age classes across all 3 distances - Anthea Feaver W50 long and sprint, Ricky Thackray M21 long and middle, Peter Komyshan M60 long and sprint, Penny Dufty W70 middle and sprint,  Lois West , Duncan Sullivan M50 middle, and Ian Dalton M21 sprint. Lois West added to her cache of KK medals with a win in W60 middle distance.
