The last event of the Summer Season 2025-2026 was a sprint, held at Perry Lakes Reserve. After the event, the overall winners of the summer series were announced. Read more below.

The final event of the 2025/26 MetrO series was held at City Beach, by first time setter Amy Dufty. Ninety competitors explored the parks, streets and hills of City Beach. The weather was lovely - not too hot near the sea.

The ninth event of the 2025/26 MetrO series was held at Lake Claremont. Seventy seven competitors explored the parks, streets and hills around the lake, venturing into the neighbouring suburbs of Swanbourne and Mount Claremont. Thankfully the temperature cooled down to provide more pleasant running conditions than last week.

The final event of the summer sprint series is at Perry Lakes Reserve. The map will utilise the Perry Lakes housing estate with quiet roads, pathways, numerous garden beds (please respect these as out of bounds) and some bushland areas. Parts of the course will also utilise the Reserve for a sprint finish! Come down and enjoy the last event prior to the long autumn break before the winter season begins. Bring a picnic dinner and relax by the lake after the event with your fellow orienteers.

Come join us for a fun and educational day of learning how to orienteer! Orienteering is a fantastic outdoor activity that combines navigation, adventure, and exploration. The eighth MetrO series event of the season took place in Piney Lakes Reserve and the wider suburb of Winthrop. Temperatures climbed above 35 degrees during the day, and it hadn’t yet perceptibly cooled down at the time of the event.

Thr City Beach event has an amazing network of interconnecting green areas along with a few hills. Come and enjoy a run and maybe stay for a picnic dinner afterwards. The start is from Beecroft Park which has a playground and BBQ for a post run picnic. Or grab something from the many eateries across the road.

Friday 9th - Monday 12th January

On the weekend of the 10th of January 2026, a mixture of juniors from Perth and Albany participated in the 2026 OWA Summer Orienteering camp. We had a mix of activities, including: a knockout sprint at Murdoch University, a sprint relay at Point Walter, ‘O-craft’ and maze races at Manning Park, along with many more amazing activities.

Over 80 people tested themselves against the setter today at Mt Pleasant. Some took to the hills while some circled the lake of the picturesque Bluegum Reserve.

The map for MetrO 9 is set around Lake Claremont. Come and join us for a run, jog or stroll around this beautiful wetland, abundant with bird life. Lake Claremont also features two nature playgrounds, dog exercise areas, and barbecues. This event is suited for newcomers and families.

Join us for our next MetrO orienteering adventure starting at Piney Lakes Reserve. Run, walk or jog around collecting the fun controls enjoying some great exercise. Suitable for beginners and families.

The second MetrO event of the year was a great success, with over 100 entries. The location was great being beside the Canning River which had a cooling effect.

The 2026 orienteering year is off to a great start with a sprint at ECU Joondalup. Although ECU Joondalup has held a number of events before, the map has been updated to include multilevel areas, which tripped some people up.

Seventy competitors made their way to Neil McDougall Park in Como to experience the festivities of the last event of 2025, but had their heads sent spinning when the Grinch (Joseph) started to steal the controls up to number 25 as the time went on. The weather was ideal for the event, reaching just 25°C and was sunny for most of the day. A lucky contrast to that of Christmas Day.

The next MetrO event will take place in Mt Pleasant. The course has several steep hills particularly north of the assembly area. If desired, it is possible to avoid the hills with route choice, but that may result in an increased distance.
