The MTBO season kicked off with a ride by the river on a fine but windy morning for the 42 participants at the North Fremantle MTBO event.
The event was less a race and more a novelty ramble to points of interest along the Swan River between Mosman Park and North Fremantle, but with the map area covering some steep sharp hills there were other challenges on top of answering questions to test the rider’s skills.
Participants used the map to find the answers to the questions on the clue sheet. The course made good use of the local bike paths and quiet streets as orienteers sought the answers to clues, such as “What is the bathroom object you will find here?”. Rubber Ducks of course! Some answers on the quiz format event were easy while others needed a keen eye although we won’t harp on about that!
A fun urban start to the MTBO events for the year. Thanks to Richard Begley and Debbie McKay for course setting, organisation and muesli slice. Thanks also to Duncan Sullivan for invaluable assistance on the day. Want to check your answers or have a look at the map?
