MetrO Round 2 delivered a fantastic afternoon of orienteering in Warwick, with perfect spring weather and a course that kept competitors thinking from start to finish. The mix of tightly clustered controls, parallel suburban streets and pockets of bushland offered a true navigational challenge, rewarding those who stayed sharp under pressure.
On the Long course, rising star Rohan Braid claimed the men’s victory, a result that many will see as the beginning of a changing of the guard in the category. In the women’s field, Tracy Burns secured a well-deserved win.
The Medium course belonged to Liam and Amy Dufty, who cruised through the terrain to take comfortable victories in their respective categories.
Over on the Short course, Oliver Martin snatched the win in the men’s competition, while Carol Browlie extended her impressive winning streak in the women’s.
A huge thank-you goes to everyone who made the event possible: course setters Quinn and Mark Lommers, Riley McFarlane on the mic, and our dedicated control collectors Rob West, Liam Dufty, Rachel and Amy Dufty, Paul Dowling and Nigel Wade. Your efforts ensured another smooth and enjoyable round of MetrO.
Results can be found on Eventor, and some people’s route choices on Livelox.
We look forward to seeing everyone at MetrO 4 at Carine Regional Open Space.
