We had 21 entrants for the WA Middle distance championships at Langford Park, including 7 entries in the M21A and 3 in the W21A.

A morning downpour firmed up the tracks and topped up the puddles, but we had very pleasant weather for the event. Competitors enjoyed tricky route choice with plenty of single track and a few hard to spot tracks under the leaf litter. The slightly unnatural post mining landforms also make navigation a little trickier.

The courses may have been a little on the long side for Middle Distance, with most of the winning times over an hour.

Hadrien Devillepoix won the M21A from Duncan Sullivan and Ian Dalton. Apologies to Martin Cupak, who finished in a good time because he was accidentally given the 10km Course 3 map.
Ekaterina Kliukina won the W21A from Ellie Sansom and Sara Pilton.
Other category winners were W70A Lois West, W60A Pearl Fleming, M70A Rob West, M60A Mark Newhouse, M50A Paul Sapcote.

Thanks to Jack and Sue Dowling for setup and admin, Michael Dufty for setting, Ricky Thackray and Duncan Sullivan for map updates, Patrick and Penny Dufty for helping with set up, Control collectors Shane Lewis, Hadrien Devillepoix, Richard Begley, Rob Beattie, and Patrick and Penny Dufty. A big thank you to Michael Dufty for setting the event.

Remaining MTBO events for the year are training on 10 August and the WA Long Distance Champs at Dwellingup on 18 August.

Results can be found here, and some competitors route choices are here.
