Minim Cove Park, Mosman Park
Sixty orienteers braved the heat to complete shortened courses at the Mosman Park MetrO. After reaching a maximum of 41 degrees earlier in the day temperatures cooled down just enough to be pleasant for 20% shortened courses. Competitors who made the climb up some of the steep hills on the map were rewarded with great views of the river, ocean, and surrounding suburbs.
Short course winners were Robert Graieg and Carol Brownlie. Medium course winners were Rohan Braid and Ceri Pass, and long course winners were Sten Claessens and Rachel West. The three fastest men and women on the finish sprint earned some well-deserved cool drinks for their efforts. Winners were Sten Claessens (12s), Amy Dufty & Ruby Phillips (13s) Harry Faulkner (14s), and Ruben Claessens, Kate Braid and Tucker Ellery (15s).
A big thank you to setter Liam Dufty. Thanks also go to Craig Dufty for making map updates and assisting with putting out controls, Rachel West and Helen Bailey for helping with set-up and registration, Tony Simpkins for conducting the newcomer briefing, and Melinda Richards on the computer. Thanks also to the many volunteers who helped with control collection and pack-up.
