Event report: MetrO 6

George Burnett Park, Karawara

Around 65 orienteers turned up to enjoy the Karawara MetrO on a warm afternoon. Plenty of parkland and route choice was available.

Feedback was that the event was enjoyable with nice parks although the repeating patterns of the linear parks could make navigation tricky (not to mention 2 very similar underpasses).

A mistake was made putting out control 15 in the midday sun and it went on the end of the wrong path, so apologies to all those inconvenienced by it.

Short course winners were Rohan Braid and Jennifer Major. Medium Tom Brownlie and Zali Dale, Long Sten Claessens and Ceri Pass.

Thanks to all who helped with setting and running the event. Notably Jack Dowling for the novice briefing, Michael and Patrick Dufty setting and placing controls (mostly in the right place), Tony Simpkins for the original map, Melinda Richards running admin, control collectors Sue, Jack and Paul Dowling, Penny Dufty, Rob and Lois West, Ian Clayton.
