Dwellingup Trails and Visitor Centre, Dwellingup
We arrived in Dwellingup on Sunday morning to beautiful clear blue skies. There was a downside to this, because at 8.30am the mercury was hovering at only 6°C. Nonetheless, 30 odd mountain bikers ranging from 8yrs old to 70+ arrived to test the courses set by Andre Morkel.
Andre set a range of courses using MapRun6. There were three line courses, of which the 30km was the most popular (which was put to the sword by Hadrien Devillepoix). There were also two score courses, one 3 hour and one 90 minute course. These were popular with the moderate cyclists and those on E-Bikes. A few learnt the lesson not to be late as the penalties were punitive at 30 points for every minute late.
We had a lovely morning cycling round the great contour-friendly track network that Dwellingup and Marrinup have to offer. Many thanks to Andre Morkel for setting, Duncan Sullivan for mapping and controlling, Edward Plummer for organising, Jack Dowling as the MapRun Jedi Master, and all our wives for putting up with us. Beanie hats and puffer jackets were provided by Katmandu and other international brands.
