Event Report: MetrO 11 Wireless Hill

Wireless Hill Reserve, Ardross

Once again high temperatures threatened to curtail this event, but fortunately the sea breeze came in and the conditions, although still pretty warm, were acceptable. Seventy-one people took on the challenge of navigating around the large bush reserve and surrounding streets. With the start being central to the map and tracks radiating out there were lots of route options. Six controls were all reasonable first control choices, and a review of many of the routes taken indicted that very few went the same way.

Most participants seemed reasonably comfortable with the heat and enjoyed the challenge. Course winners were: Short - Andrea Eves and Robert Graieg; Moderate – Kate Braid and Sten Claessens; Long – Ceri Pass and Mark Lommers. Well done to you all!

Thanks are due to many people. Melinda Richards and Rosalie McCauley again handled the IT tasks and there was an abundance of KO volunteers to help collect controls – Ceri Pass, Kate and Rohan Braid, Jenny and John Major, Brad Swallow, Paul Dowling, Graeme Harris, Sten and Ruben Claessens, and Andries Swart. This help was greatly appreciated. Of course a big thank you goes to Noel Schoknecht for his organisation of the event.
