Malmalling - Standard Bush Event

This popular orienteering area should be just the place to enjoy the start of the wildflower season at a standard bush event. With a range of courses to choose from to suit all skill and fitness levels this is a perfect time to get out and enjoy the Western Australian bush. After your course let the kids play and get dirty, have a picnic lunch and enjoy a snack from the cake stall which supports the Junior Squad fundraising effort.

Registration: 09:00am – 11:00am
Start times: 09:30am – 11:30am
Course closes: 1:00pm sharp

Leave Midland and travel up Great Eastern Highway until you pass through Sawyers Valley. After passing through Sawyer’s Valley travel past the Old Northam Road turnoff to Chidlow. One kilometre further on turn right into Gorrie Road (O Signposted) and follow the main gravel road. The next intersection will be O Signposted into Chamber’s Road. Follow this main dirt road and watch for small orange and white “O signs” to the assembly area. There is plenty of parking that will be signposted on the day.

Courses : Seven courses for different abilities and fitness.

H1 Course: 9.2 km 360 m climb
H2 Course: 6.8 km 255 m climb
H3 Course: 3.8 km 145 m climb
H4 Course: 2.8 km 90 m climb
M Course: 3.1 km 160 m climb
E Course: 2.2 km 45 m climb
VE Course: 1.8 km 30 m climb
Note: The climb is straight-line-climb so with astute route choice the total climb should be as little as 50% of the measured climb.
