Congratulations to Ricky Thackray for winning the mountain bike orienteering sprint distance championships held near Canberra on the weekend of October 19-20. Ricky beat a quality field including former Aus representative David Simpfendorfer, 2012 sprint champion Steven Todkill, and local gun riders Seb Dunne and Todd Nowack to claim victory. In the supporting events, the ACT middle and long champs, Ricky claimed 4th and 3rd place respectively with Todd and David taking the wins. Australian MTBO Coach Ian Dalton placed 6th, 8th and 5th across the three races.
This caps off a successful year in which WA won the M21 elite category and Ricky and Ian also finished 1st and 3rd in the national series after three rounds of competition. Congratulations to both.
