MetrO Series: 22nd February 2014

The final MetrO Series event for the 2013/2014 season will start from Charonia Park, Mullalloo on Saturday 22nd February. The competition will be on a new map by Ricky Thackray, and will decide the overall Series categories.

The event is of course very suitable for beginners and no previous orienteering experience is necessary, therefore members of the public are most welcome to come and try orienteering.

Registration will be open from 4.15pm until the Start at 5.00pm, but newcomers should arrive at least 10 minutes before the beginners briefing at 4.45pm to allow time to register.

There will be three courses available, of 2-3kms, 5-6kms, and 7-8kms, and more useful information for beginners, including a description of the event and a sample map, is available at the Urban Event Guide page.

There will be a short break after this event, before the first NavDash event of 2014 at Joondalup Learning Precinct on 8th March.

The nearest Mitchell Freeway exits are Ocean Reef Rd and Whitfords Ave. At the Ocean Reef Rd exit head West and cross traffic lights at Eddystone and Marmion Avenues, then turn left into Meridian Drive (3kms from freeway). After 300m turn right into Scaphella Ave then turn left into the parking area at Charonia Park after 600m. From the Whitfords Ave freeway exit, head West towards Whitford City shopping centre. Go straight ahead at the traffic lights at Marmion Ave, and at the next roundabout, then turn right at traffic lights into Dampier Ave (3.2kms from the freeway). Follow Dampier Ave for approx. 2kms, crossing several roundabouts, until turning right into Scaphella Ave just after passing a service station on your right. Charonia Park is just 200m along Scaphella on your right.

The nearest train stations are Edgewater and Whitfords, and are close to the freeway exits described above.
