Down on the farm
On Sunday orienteering returns to Gunapin, a beautiful farming property south west of York. The Expert courses run through bush areas with gullies and lots of rocks while the Active and Starter courses include some open areas. Come along the afternoon before and camp with the organisers (BYO everything). Our thanks go to the owners and managers of Gunapin for allowing us to use this area.

Equipment: Sport Ident tag, compass, tick repellent, leg protection, water Facilities: Pit Toilet, cake stall, camping available on site on Saturday night (bring everything you need).

Directions: Northern approach: From Perth take the Great Eastern Highway to The Lakes and turn right onto the Great Southern Highway (to York). Drive 13km then turn right onto Yarra Road. Drive 1.6km and turn left onto West Talbot Road. Drive 22km on West Talbot Road (sealed except for the bridge over the Helena River 7km  from Yarra Road – take care at this point). Turn right into Luelf’s Road (becomes Gunapin Ridge Road). Drive 8km and turn right into Qualen Road. Drive 4.2km on Qualen Road and turn left onto the bush track to the farm. Leave the gate as found. Follow the edge of the bush area around to the assembly area. Directions - southern approach: Take Brookton Highway from Kelmscott. From the junction with Canning Road in Karragullen, travel 35.1km, turn left into Yarra Road (corrugated with some potholes). Travel 12.1km on Yarra Road and turn right into Qualen Road (corrugated with some potholes) – watch for direction arrow at Sullivan Road. Travel 9.6km and turn right onto the bush track leading to the farm gate. Leave the gate as found. Follow the edge of the bush area around to the assembly area.
