Friday 9th - Monday 12th January

On the weekend of the 10th of January 2026, a mixture of juniors from Perth and Albany participated in the 2026 OWA Summer Orienteering camp. We had a mix of activities, including: a knockout sprint at Murdoch University, a sprint relay at Point Walter, ‘O-craft’ and maze races at Manning Park, along with many more amazing activities.

The coaches were great, especially the younger coaches (Liam, Joseph, and Kate) in their role of organising lots of the activities in the first camp I have been to with them serving key roles. The quiz was looked forward to, but ended up being very difficult, predominantly the geography round being made more difficult from last year, but at the other extreme, being quite challenging. A major takeaway is to learn who won everything at JWOC and WOC and where they are being held to do well…

The dorms were lovely, having a ceiling fan, which was very nice for someone like me from Albany (and everyone else) in the heat. A highlight also was the pool at the accomodation, which thanks to Nick we got to use many times to cool off and recover. It was great to see many new faces at the camp having a good time.
