Last weekend's Treeby event saw a little over 60 orienteers enjoying a new (and relatively flat!) map in Perth's southern suburbs in a housing development featuring an intricate street network, a few small parks, and bushland areas with paved paths. The setter was kind and gave orienteers shorter than usual distances between controls although this meant a higher number of controls required than standard as ensuring you didn't run out of fingers and toes was a must.
The weather for this event was perfect, being earlier in the season than most of this setter's events and having the arena at the Sports Centre was a great place to provide ample shelter (if you could block out the building alarm that was accidentally set off) to keep out of the sun.
This week's winners were Tracy Burns and Joseph Coleman on the long, Amy Dufty and Nick Dale on the medium, and Carol Brownlie and Oliver Martin on the short.
A big thank you to the setter & mapper Ricky Thackray. Thanks also to the many control collecters (too many to list) and Kate on the computer.
Results are available on Eventor.
