Weather-wise the day turned out much better than the previous day, which was the day spent by the course setter putting out most of the controls. Air temperature on Saturday was around 9'C, together with a fair bit of rain and even a bit of hail.
A total of 20 participants tackled the 3 courses on offer on Sunday: however, 2 casuals (father-son team) appear not to have downloaded their SI sticks and don’t feature in the Results list. The actual ride distances for Long, Medium and Short were ~30km, ~20km and ~10km, respectively (Eventor results lists gives the straight line course distances).
Long course 1st place was taken out by Hadrien D, after allowing for a misplaced control by the control setter (apologies to all). Medium course 1st place was Ian D, and the Short course 1st place goes to Liisa H (with Nigel W opting to run the Short course with a few short cuts). The Long and Medium courses had a bit of ‘topography’ enroute, as well as single tracks limiting some options for route choice. Several other orienteers (Liam, Joseph, Rohan and Rachel) were seen running different routes around the Camel Farm.
Thanks go to Calamunnda Trail Hub for allowing use of their facilities, and to control collectors Richard, Rob, Martin and Duncan. And special thanks to Jack D – your help with setting up/packing up and looking after the EOD registration and time keeping is much appreciated. And thanks to those (Debbie was one of them) who provided bikkies and lamingtons. And finally, a big thank you to setter Volker G.
Results are in Eventor, and some competitors' route choices are in Livelox.
