Saturday 8th - Sunday 9th February
The National Orienteering League, known as NOL, is Australia’s premier elite domestic competition with 3-4 rounds held in the Autumn season. It is primarily a team competition with individuals racing to gain points for their state team. The Western Nomads are our WA representatives.
Western Australia will be hosting a NOL round event on 8-9th March, 2025. The program consists of a middle distance bush event, and three sprint events. Besides elite races, there will be public races with courses suitable for all ages and abilities.
It will be a busy weekend with two events on both Saturday and Sunday, as well as social events on both days. Saturday morning features a middle distance bush event in Malmalling, and Saturday afternoon a sprint event at ECU Joondalup, with a casual social event on Saturday evening at Hillary's. Sunday starts with a morning sprint event at ECU Mt Lawley, and finishes with a two-man sprint relay in the afternoon at Murdoch University, where you could stay for a pizza and movie at the outdoor cinema if you wish.
These events are also selection events for the Australian Schools Orienteering Championships team for 2025. If you have school aged juniors that turn 12 or older this year you might like to consider nominating for the team. The team has 15 and under boys and 15 and under girls, 16 and over boys and 16 and over girls. For more information please see the selection document: https://forms.gle/
Whatever your age, ability or fitness level, you are very welcome to enter any or all of the NOL events, but please plan ahead!
Note:
1. Pre-entry is essential.
2. There will be NO enter on the day.
3. Entries close 2 weeks before the event. Please enter by the 21st February.
Also Note:
The State Election is being held on the Saturday (March 8th) of the Perth NOL weekend. If you plan to do all the Perth NOL races you may find it easier to do a postal vote or vote in person prior to the day. Early, in person voting is available Monday 24th to Friday 7th March. Plan ahead to make your day smoother and take the stress out of trying to vote in between races.
Read more about the events on the OWA website and Bulletin 1.
Entries are open until Feb 21st via Eventor.
Hope to see you there - whether competing, volunteering or just cheering on our Western Nomads!
