A hot early afternoon was soothed by a brisk sea breeze on Butlers Reserve last Saturday, in time for the mass start which saw competitors set out almost equally in three different directions, all up hill!

Over 100 people took part, with more newcomers than usual, 22 in groups and 17 solo ‘Casuals’, who we hope will come back for more next week and onwards.

Sarah Richards set an ingenious pattern of controls on the new map which included part of Wembley Downs and, judging by discussions of routes afterwards, that challenged participants’ ability to make quick choices, some better than others. It would be interesting to see on Livelox where more of us went.

Results are in Eventor with, notably, father and son Ruben and Sten Claessens winning the Medium Junior Male course and Long Senior Male course respectively again, as did Rachel West on the Long Senior Female.

Thanks are due to the LOST club members who helped collect controls, as well as all other OWA members who helped set up, pack up, and run the event smoothly. And a big thank you to setter Sarah.

This was the last scatter event of the series at which Riley McFarlane was Master of Ceremonies, announcer and encourager, using the occasion to thank the regular organisers, his mother Sharon and Mark Lommers, various computer operators, and other support workers. His enthusiasm will be missed, until he returns, next season?

Results can be found on Eventor, along with routes in Livelox, and detailed splits on the MetrO Series Splits page.
