For the first time, the MetrO events are interspersed with sprint events this year. The first of these events in the new Summer Sprint Series will be held on Saturday 30 November 2024 at Lumen Christi College in Martin. This is a new map that has not been used for an event before. It contains an area with school buildings and covered walkways as well as sport fields, parkland, and a small area of bushland.
For those unfamiliar with sprint events: the main difference with MetrO events is that competitors must visit controls in the order of their number on the map, and that competitors start one by one (or in their group) at one minute intervals. The events are held on maps with a larger scale, i.e. in a smaller area, typically at a school or university campus or parkland area. Courses are shorter and quick thinking will be required to get around as fast as possible. You can do multiple courses for the price of one if you have the time.
Pre-entry is preferred and is available via Eventor. If you are not a member of OWA but would like to enter online, you will need to register an account on Eventor before completing your entry. Then, once logged into Eventor, select the event and enter and pay online. See our guide for How to register on Eventor.
Enter-on-the-day (EOD) will be available at the event until 4.40pm, if you are unable to enter beforehand.
Courses: Three courses will be available - Easy (1.5-2 km), Short (2-2.5 km) and Long (3-3.5 km).
Beginners' briefing: 4:15pm.
Start Times: Between 4:30pm and 5:30pm.
Courses Close: 6:15pm. Please return to the assembly area by this time, even if you have not finished your course.
