Russell's Gully, Beeches Mews, Brigadoon
Treat yourselves to a delightful drive up into the hills past the vineyards to the spectacular location that is near the lookout to view the train line and Swan River snaking through the valley.
Russell's Gully is open running, with patches of thickets that can be avoided. There are many bare rock surfaces scattered throughout the map. The boulders are mostly on the smaller size and again scattered over most of the area. As this map contains a broad gully, some climb is required. There are spectacular views from the lower end of the map.
The map has had two long new tracks added by DFS. They are 3m wide vehicle tracks to provide access for fire trucks in the event of a bushfire. They will provide orienteers with good line features by which to navigate. The map is 1:4000 scale with 5m contours.
This event is a WA Schools Team Selection event.
