The carnival will comprise nine events over the nine days. The four national championship events will be part of the National League competition and the three individual championships are expected to receive World Ranking Event status. Two open-entry events will follow the mid week School Championships on the same days, so there will be two rest days.
During the next week the SWOT Club will be running Sprint South West, a series of 4 sprint events on Tuesday and Wednesday 7/8 October in the South-West of WA. (Follow us on Facebook Sprint the South West)
On Friday and Saturday 10/11 October, three MTBO National Series events will be held near Margaret River.
The forest events on the first weekend and during the week will be near the towns of Bindoon and Toodyay, each about 90 km from central Perth. The midweek events and those on the second weekend will be near the village of Clackline, which is on the Great Eastern Highway and also about 90 km from the city, on the way to the Avon Valley town of Northam. The terrain for the bush events varies from farm land to denser bush, rolling hills to intricate spurs and gullies, and areas of granite detail, while the Australian Sprint Championships will be on a complex metropolitan site.
Although the main theme of the carnival is Championships, every competition day will have courses suitable for all ages and levels of ability, with most events available for the public after the official competitions.
