The MetrO Series is held between November and February in and around metropolitan parks and reserves throughout the suburbs of Perth. These family and runner-friendly events are easily achievable by anyone who can read a street map. MetrO series events are dog- and pram-friendly, and compasses are not needed for these events. The long-running MetrO Series attracts many regular participants, with three courses are available, ranging from 3 to 8 km in length.

The season

Typically the MetrO season commences in early November and runs to the end of February, with a small break over Christmas. The series is a great way to keep up your training over summer, enjoy catching up with friends, and see different places in Perth. Many venues are in scenic locations perfect for a post-run picnic or BBQ dinner.

Events are held on Saturday afternoons

All events are held on Saturday afternoon with a mass start at 5 pm. Every event uses a scatter format (meaning that you can choose which controls to visit and in which order, rather than following a set course). You can pre-enter via Eventor until 4pm before you arrive at the event. If you need help to enter, volunteers will be at the event site from 4 pm to help you enter. EFTPOS is now available at all events. Entries close at 4.40 pm just before the pre-event briefing for newcomers starts.

MetrO events use electronic controls and SI timing so remember to bring your SI card if you have your own. There will be loan SI cards available for those who need them.

Post event there is a finish briefing at 6 pm, including announcing the male and female winners of each course.

Series competition

All results are entered in a series long competition. Season winners in various classes are determined by points accumulated for the runner's best performances over the season. Of course, there is no need to be competitive, it's fine to just walk around and have a go for as many events as you need.
