The most popular programs are the Four Week Program for Primary Schools, held at the school, and Outdoor Education Programs for Secondary Schools, usually held in parks or state forest. However, we can design one-off or multi-session programs to meet your needs.

Team Nominations:
Nominations must be received by the 5th of February to ensure adequate time for team selection and entry to the organisers of the Australian Schools Champs.
For more information see WA Schools Orienteering Interstate Nomination details.
Training Camps and Junior Squad Events:
The major training camp of the year takes place in the July school holidays, and all students or juniors from 10 – 19 years are welcome. The Camp is run by OAWA’s accredited coaches, and all abilities are catered for.
Throughout the year, other training and social events are organised for juniors and schoolies!! As these events are organised a listing will be placed on this page, with contact details for you to come along and join in. Remember Orienteering is Fun!!
Look out this year for the exciting new Primary School competition:
Space Racing is Orienteering designed especially for Primary School teams using the latest event technology. The first Space Race will be in Term 3 of 2012. More details coming soon!
A new half-day clinic 'Teach Orienteering the Easy Way' will be available in 2012. Clinics will be held towards the end of Terms 1, 2 and 3, with the first one planned for Friday 30th March.
The clinic will assist you to develop an Orienteering program from scratch, or run follow-up activities after one of our sessions or programs, or prepare your students for Space Racing or School Championships.
Separate clinics can be run at schools where 5 or more teachers are interested in attending.
The Be Active Level 0 Orienteering Instructors Clinic gives teachers and outdoor instructors the skills and knowledge to develop and run basic Orienteering programs for students and youth groups. The National Coaching Accreditation Scheme Level One course in Orienteering is an other option, especially for Physical Education Teachers. We are hoping to offer both these courses in 2012.
Your school, or a nearby park, or camp can be mapped professionally by the Be Active Development Officer. The final map is produced on OCAD, a cartography software program, and can be printed in colour or black and white. The cost for a primary school map is $148.50, incl. GST, and for a secondary school $247.50, incl. GST. Schools that already have OCAD maps can have them updated free of charge.
Alternatively, schools can produce their own school map on OCAD. A free version of the software (version 6) can be downloaded from the
OCAD web site .
Other Orienteering resources for schools include maps and permanent courses, and a 30-page booklet for teachers interested in developing their own Orienteering programs. The Orienteering Shop can also provide equipment for schools.
Orienteering Australia has some very useful online Coaching Tips. This material is copyrighted, but students may undertake the 15 short lessons online.
Contact the Be Active Development Officer on 9405 6240, for further information.
