Healthy Eating Policy

Orienteering Western Australia () acknowledges that healthy eating can have an impact on our health and fitness and that the provision of healthy foods will contribute to better health for all.

() will encourage healthy eating through:

  • Promotion of the enjoyment of healthy eating and the role of food in relation to health and fitness in the newsletter, on the web and by other appropriate means.

  • Ensuring that fresh water is available at course start and finish for participants and officials, and for participants on courses.

  • Provision at catered orienteering events of a variety of competitively priced healthy food choices, such as:

  • fresh fruit

  • variety of breads/rolls (white, wholemeal, brown, multigrain).

  • variety of sandwich fillings, including vegetarian, and all with salad or vegetable ingredients

  • meat used will be lean meat

  • limited variety of pre-packaged snack food

  • variety of drinks (bottled water, fruit juice, sports drinks, soft drinks, but no 'energy drinks').
